VALGA — The small Estonian town of Valga has taken a shocking step by outright banning saunas. The reason? Officials claim they are ‘tired of the chaos’ caused by too much sweating. “Saunas are a sacred space for relaxation, and we can’t have people getting too sweaty. It disrupts the harmony!” explained local mayor Jüri Oja.

Instead, residents are encouraged to sweat outdoors in designated parks, with official sweat zones marked by bright yellow signs. A new motto has surfaced: ‘Sweat with pride, just not in the sauna.’ Skeptical locals are already complaining about lack of privacy.

”I just want to sweat in peace! I don’t want my neighbors watching me drip while I enjoy the fresh air,” said resident Kadri Tamm.

”We must adjust. It’s government’s framework for a better nation. If we can’t sweat in style, we will sweat in nature!”

Despite the ban, sauna enthusiasts have refused to back down. Secret sauna parties are reportedly being organized, complete with black-market leib and kohv. Yet, one clever resident has taken a unique approach, claiming her shower is now a ‘lockdown sauna,’ inviting friends over to break the law.

Local shopkeepers are now selling inflatable saunas for outdoor use, because nothing says ‘Estonian summer’ like sweating in a plastic tent in a park.

At press time, Valga officials were discussing the feasibility of charging admission fees for park sweating.
