TALLINN — In an unprecedented move, Estonia’s teachers have announced a nationwide warning strike, citing unsafe working conditions imposed by dented pencil cases and overused chalk. Strange, yet relatable.

Pencils, the unsung heroes of classroom torture, have banded together to sprout their collective voice through a rebellious message. “We are tired of being sharpened to the bone while being neglected in dusty drawers!” exclaimed a particularly vocal HB pencil during a press conference.

“The conditions are deteriorating. I can’t remember the last time I had a fresh point,”

Teachers have also joined their pointy comrades in solidarity. “If my pencils are unhappy, how can I teach?” lamented a tired looking Kadri, an Estonian primary school teacher. “Plus, I have already run out of ink in all my red pens! How am I supposed to mark anything?“

The strike is also believed to have support from rulers, who are demanding equal rights to never be broken under pressure. The last straw, according to insiders, was when teachers began to use gasp non-Euclidean geometry coordinators instead of traditional rulers.

At press time, the Pencils Against Dulling Coalition announced a march on the Ministry of Education to protest against the lack of erasers in schools, calling it a censorship issue. A spokesperson stated they demand change before the semester ends, or they’ll go write their grievances on the blackboard, with permanent markers.
