TALLINN — Estonia’s newly appointed economy minister, Liina Vahtras, shocked the business community by proposing a national prayer event to boost exports before tackling complex economic data.
”Numbers can be intimidating. Sometimes, you just need to ask the universe for help—like when you can’t find parking in Kalamaja,” Vahtras stated during her inaugural speech, sending shockwaves through boardrooms.
Divine Intervention or Just Wishful Thinking?
Business leaders are divided over this unconventional suggestion. “I thought we were getting a numbers person, not a faith healer,” said Mart, a local entrepreneur. “Maybe I should start praying for my startup’s funding instead of filling out paperwork. It’s less stress!"
"If baking rye bread required divine intervention, Estonia would be out of leib by now!”
Despite the mixed reactions, Vahtras remains optimistic. “With enough faith, we will attract more export opportunities than Estonia attracts tourists with bad sauna etiquette,” she insisted.
At press time, the minister was spotted distributing prayer books at Selver. “Just in case!” she exclaimed.
