TALLINN — Mart Kask, a 29-year-old tram enthusiast, has officially set the record for most consecutive days experiencing tram delays, quietly documenting his frustrating daily rides while becoming an unexpected social media influencer.
”I never thought it would take 32 days, but here we are!” said Mart while sipping his lukewarm kohv in a packed tram. “Every day, it’s a new adventure of waiting for a train that’s always late. It feels like Estonian winter all over again!”
His blog, titled ‘Tram Delay Diaries,’ has gained a modest following of fellow commuters who also share his pain. Each post features gripping tales of missed connections and creative ways to kill time, such as re-reading Kalevipoeg for the hundredth time.
Delays Become a Community
As the delays continued, so did the war of patience among frustrated tram-goers. “Crowds were singing Käsmu Koor songs to cope. I decided to take notes. It just spiraled into a blog. Honestly, who knew people were so passionate about being late?” Mart explained. Fellow passenger Kadri added, “I’ve started treating my tram rides like a sauna session—leave your worries at the door, and embrace the warmth of shared annoyance!”
“This tram is basically the Iceland of public transport—beautiful, but always just out of reach.”
According to Mart, the trams have not only delayed his commute but have become a metaphor for life in Estonia: slow, unpredictable, but somehow beautiful in its chaos.
At press time, local transportation officials announced plans to study Mart’s blog for potential insights into tram delays as a form of performance art.
