TARTU — In a stunning display of endurance, local man Mart Kask has set a new world record for the longest time spent staring at a train schedule without blinking or moving. The astonishing feat lasted 4 hours and 37 minutes, shattering the previous record by over an hour.
Observers say the entire event occurred at the bustling Tartu train station, where Mart firmly stood, eyes locked on the schedule board, channeling the spirit of Estonia’s commitment to punctuality.
”I was waiting for the 12:34 train, but it never came. I thought, why not turn my frustration into a record?”
Mart’s technique, he explained, involves deep breathing and a healthy dose of stoicism — perfect for long waits that are all too common in Estonia’s railway history. Friends reportedly offered him leib and kohv to keep his energy up, but Mart refused all distractions.
Local Fame
Since breaking the record, Mart has found fame in Tartu. He is now sought after for motivational speeches, teaching others how to ‘git gud’ at not missing trains. Social media influencers even dubbed him ‘Train Master’ and have begun to fashion their own aspiring staring contests.
However, some critics argued that the record is less impressive given that the train he was waiting for was delayed again by 15 minutes. Mart remains undeterred, stating, “In the depths of despair, I found meaning. And a world record!”
At press time, Mart was contemplating a new record attempt: holding a stare at the menu at his favorite kebab shop until they decided to stop running out of meat.
