TALLINN — In a dramatic glitch that left the nation reeling, the new e-Estonia SATS app crashed last night, rendering the entire population obsolete for 15 minutes. Citizens, forced to revert to paper forms, scrambled to find their nearest ink and printer.
The outage caught many unsuspecting users off guard. “I just wanted to book a sauna session with my friends, but ended up filling out a paper form like it’s 1999!” reported Mart, an e-resident and self-proclaimed digital guru. “I haven’t seen a pen in ages!”
The emergency paper booking system, which consists of a folded A4 sheet with boxes to check, witnessed a surge in interest as 21 citizens managed to successfully book spa treatments before the system was restored.
”I felt like a true Estonian pioneer,” said Kadri, who rediscovered the joy of handwriting amid chaos.
When the app finally rebooted, many exclaimed it felt like Christmas, but some folks still missed the thrill of the old ways.
”Paper forms allow for more creativity, you can draw little pictures or doodles on the side!” argued Peeter, who is now considering a paper-based art installation called “Forms of Expression.” At press time, the government urged citizens to write down their frustrations in journals, as the e-Estonia service seems to have an affinity for dramatic exits.
