TALLINN — In a surprising turn of events, 76-year-old Jaan Raudsepp became an overnight TikTok sensation after he accidentally joined a trending dance challenge while trying to stretch after a sauna. Friends of the retired woodcarver say they were shocked to see him shuffling around in his garden wearing only his traditional ‘võrkpüksid’.

”I thought I was loosening my joints, not becoming the next big thing on the internet,” Jaan said, frantically waving his arms in a poorly executed version of the latest dance craze. “I just wanted to make sure I can reach the leib on the top shelf!”

Jaan’s video went viral after his granddaughter Marta posted it without his permission, which has become a solid family tradition at this point. The caption read, “When the sauna hits different!”

Experts say his “dance moves” underscore an important cultural shift where Estonia’s elderly embrace technology that confuses the youth. “Who needs e-Residency when you can become a TikTok star?” explained social media expert Peeter Kask. “This is clearly an innovative approach to skip the grey winters when one’s body just won’t move like it used to.”

Despite the newfound fame, Jaan has expressed some concerns. “I didn’t realize people would discover my secret routine of saunas and shuffling around the dandelions,” he added, sipping his kohv while scrolling through comments replete with supportive emojis and laughter. It’s unclear whether Jaan will continue posting videos or if the stress of potential fame will send him back to his safer lumberjacking roots.

At press time, Jaan was seen practicing a TikTok-worthy swing with a broom while his neighbors began taking bets on when the local dance-off would commence.
