TALLINN — In a bold attempt to merge data protection with personal relaxation, local man Peeter Järv, 34, has started reading the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) aloud during his daily sauna sessions.
”People are stressed about data privacy. I thought, why not bring it into our most sacred space?” said Järv, who continues to ignore his friend Aivo’s advice to leave legal jargon out of the sauna.
”My voice is like a deep-fried kohv—smooth and warming, like a hug for your bandwidth. Just try to relax while I explain Section 7 of the GDPR!”
Participants in Järv’s sauna evenings report mixed feelings. While some enjoy the calming atmosphere, others have raised concerns about “too much information” interrupting their meditative experience.
”I thought it was going to be a typical sauna evening: schvitz, relax, eat leib. But then Peeter started telling us about the rights of data subjects. It was… strange, to say the least,” recounted Marit, an unsuspecting sauna goer.
Future Plans Include Expanding Offerings
In an attempt to grow his audience, Järv plans to introduce themed sauna nights with titles like “Cookies and Wiser Decisions” and “e-Residency Under the Stars.”
Järv hopes that with enough traction, the idea will catch on nationally, combining Estonia’s love for sauna culture and digital governance. For now, he remains committed to the pursuit of peaceful privacy.
At press time, Järv was reportedly drafting a “GDPR Relaxation Handbook” for the sauna, leading some to suspect he may also be looking to secure e-Residency for international customers seeking sauna enlightenment.
