TARTU — A quaint village in Estonia has found itself in an unexpected situation after mistaking a surveillance drone for a flying sokker (soccer ball), prompting residents to start developing aerial football tactics.

The confusion arose during last weekend’s village festival when a drone appeared overhead, capturing footage of locals enjoying various traditional activities, including intense sauna debates about the optimal ratio of leib to kohv.

Villager Mart mustered the courage to yell, “Kick it into the goal!” while others chimed in with aggressive shouts of tactics from the throes of their vivid imaginations.

”We’ve decided to create a formation—a 2-2-1 with a goalie controlling the tablet at the edge of the pitch!”

This has now escalated to the point where residents have begun practicing their free-kick techniques while simultaneously dodging actual drones. The village is reportedly exploring sponsorship deals with local drone manufacturers.

”We’ll show them we can score better than any aerial observer!” said Kadri, the village’s optimistic coach, as she prepared the team for their first match against a new flying drone.

At press time, area wildlife was rumored to be creating their own strategies for dealing with the new competition.
