NARVA — In a shocking turn of events, Mayor Juri Petrov has announced an emergency press conference after foreign media mistook his favorite coffee shop, Barist’ko, for a secret spy base.

The confusion erupted when reporters spotted a suspicious gathering of patrons enthusiastically discussing the best leib recipes. Eyewitness accounts claimed that media representatives mistook conversations about double espresso shots as coded messages.

”I just wanted my morning kohv!” said Mart, the Barist’ko barista, who was busy brewing. “Next thing I know, journalists are interrogating me about foreign drones and surveillance. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie!"

"We thought they were planning something big! Turns out they were just arguing over whether oat milk is a valid option for lattes!”

Local patrons are outraged at the misunderstanding. “First, they take our sauna etiquette; now they take our coffee!” said Liisa, a regular at Barist’ko. “Can’t a Narva citizen enjoy a hot drink without being labeled an agent?”

Mayor Petrov has since assured residents that the only thing brewing at Barist’ko is coffee and friendly discussions about Kalevipoeg’s next epic adventure.

At press time, Barist’ko was considering adding a ‘no spies’ policy to its menu.
